Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt
The protagonist of the romantic comedy film As Good As It Gets from 1997, Melvin Udall, is a cynical and rude romance writer who develops feelings for the sweet waitress at the diner where he regularly consumes breakfast. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. Quite an achievement!
Jack Nicholson, who had already reached the age of 60 at the time of the film’s release, provided the performance of Melvin on the big screen. Helen Hunt, who plays the role of the compassionate waitress Carol Connelly in the movie, was only 34 years old when the film was initially released.
