The Joker is one of the villains who seems to have been around forever, reinvented again and again by some of the greatest actors out there. Each one brought something different to the role. Some leaned into the chaos, others played it cool and creepy, and a few just went full cartoon. What’s wild is how the same character can feel so interesting every time, depending on who’s wearing the infamous grin. We’re here to take a look at the actors who’ve tackled Gotham’s most iconic maniac, and how they each left their mark.
#1: Lennie Weinrib
Lennie Weinrib voiced the Joker in the 1977 animated series The New Adventures of Batman, and his version was pure Saturday morning energy, loud, silly, and way over-the-top. It wasn’t deep or dark, but it was classic cartoon villain stuff. Cackles, gadgets, and schemes that usually fell apart in under 20 minutes. Not subtle, not scary, but perfect for its time.
