#19: Cassette Tapes and Mixtapes
Cassettes were how we listened to music in the 80s, as CDs were still too expensive for most folks. And mixtapes were our Spotify! Many kids were putting cassettes in their boomboxes to record the latest hit songs. Then, the radio DJ would talk over the song and ruin it for you! Some kids would even record their own music and pass it around during lunch.

And I personally loved them over CDs. While cassettes did degrade over time, and you had to flip them over (unless you had a fancy player that could play both sides), at least your music wouldn’t be ruined if it got a scratch on it.
