48. The Brown Lady Still Wanders
Raynham Hall in Norfolk, a grand estate dating back to around 1620, is as rich in ghost stories as it is in history. One of its most famous legends centers around Lady Dorothy “Dolly” Townshend, who lived there in the 18th century with her husband, Viscount “Turnip” Townshend.

According to the tales, Dolly was confined within the house by her husband. Decades later, her presence is still felt, with her ghost, the “Brown Lady,” reputedly haunting the estate. This claim was bolstered by a photograph taken in the 1930s, which allegedly captured her ghostly image.
