Bob’s Burgers fans know that half the fun of watching the show is spotting Easter eggs throughout the series referencing other pop culture phenomena. Some of these homages are more obvious than others. But the fun is finding ones you really connect with, even if they’re a small moment in the show rather than a whole episode. If the ever-changing burger of the day references aren’t enough to get you giggling, these major sequences are sure to hit the nail on the head—especially if you’re a movie buff.
#1: The Shining
Although the show gets significantly more punny as it continues, Bob’s Burgers hit the ground running with Season 1, Episode 2. In “Crawl Space,” Bob gets stuck in the wall and begins having hallucinations that harken back to The Shining. They’re subtle for casual fans of the film, but the eventual bar scene with Louise’s Kuchi Kopi nightlight as the bartender makes it very clear that we’re in Bob’s version of the Stanley Hotel.
