The Creation of McDonald’s
Sometimes it can be difficult to imagine where the world would be today without certain things that seem like they are part of the very fabric of society. Just because certain things have existed for specific generations, doesn’t mean that they have always been around. The idea of fast-food might seem obvious to some, but the idea was solidified in 1955 when the McDonald’s brothers opened their first restaurant.
The first-ever McDonald’s restaurant was opened in 1940 in San Bernadino, California by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald. The small, yet, successful restaurant only sold hamburgers, fries, and beverages, which is rather different from today’s selection at the famous fast-food joint. The story of McDonald’s is rather fascinating and somewhat sad, as the McDonald’s brothers were cheated out of their stake in the restaurant and were taken over by businessman Ray Kroc in 1955.
