Dubai’s approach to religion
UAE’s constitution declared Islam as the official religion of the territory, at the same time ensures the freedom of religion. There are other large religious communities in the city such as Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Sikh. These non-Muslims groups are allowed to have their houses of worship and practice their religion freely. Furthermore, religious hatred and religious extremism is punishable by jail and deportation.

Overall Dubai is considered to be a very tolerant state on religious matters in comparison with other Islamic countries. Moreover, allowing drinking for non-Muslim in licenses venues and allowing western swimming suits in waterparks is very progressive on their part. In the other hand homosexuality, public display of affection and violation of the dress code in public are cause of deportation and jail as well.
