#16: Downtown (1999-2000)
It’s a shame that MTV’s Downtown only lasted a season in 1999. This animated show was truly ahead of its time. It encompassed the lives of a diverse group of young adults living in New York City and was based on interviews. Downtown was a snapshot of real life based on real life, capturing so much of what makes the day-to-day both mundane and wonderful. If anything from this list is a truly remarkable, forgotten treasure, it’s Downtown.
