Less “Jenny From the Block” and More “Jenny From Bel Air”
In 2002, J-Lo attempted to persuade the world that being a superstar had not altered her identity as a Bronx native. What is her approach? Jenny from the Block, a song with a catchy chorus that reminded us that she was, in fact, still Jenny from the block, was one of those songs. It was a little ironic, then, that this ode to Lopez’s blue-collar roots was entirely filmed in Los Angeles, as was the rest of the film. In fact, things are getting worse.

The following year, she appeared in a Fiat commercial, which once again made use of her Bronx upbringing. She was seen driving around the borough, saying, “This is my world,” as she did so. That was also filmed in Los Angeles – a body double was used for the Bronx scenes, which were shot in the city.
