A well-known American actor, Jack Lemmon was nominated for two Academy Awards during the course of his long and distinguished career in the entertainment industry. In 1957, he co-starred in The Lady Takes a Sailor with Jane Wyman, and the film was a box office hit.

Because, unbeknownst to many, Lemmon was also a sailor for a brief period of time prior to becoming an actor, he wore the appropriate attire.A communications officer on an aircraft carrier was his duty during World War II when he served in the navy as a reservist. He was never involved in battle, and his time in the military was extremely brief.
