#5: A High School Senior or an Elderly Senior?
Non-Americans seem to find America’s high school rankings pretty amusing. The United States is the only country known for the high school years being referred to as freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. This grading system makes it confusing for non-Americans to know which type of senior someone is referring to.

Maybe America’s government wanted their high school students to sound more official and military-like than they really are. Who knows, but we can see why so many non-Americans find this funny. It makes them have to ask, “Are you a senior in college or high school? Or are you just an elderly senior?”
