
We spend about the first twenty years of our lives preparing for adulthood, being “educated” for years by our parents and teachers about “the real world.” Yet, somehow, they neglect to teach us about most of the actual everyday problems we have to deal with when we do grow up. When we’re kids, it’s easy to make friends. You just go up to someone in the sandbox who you think looks nice and ask if you can play with them. So we assume that it’s going to remain this way our entire lives without realizing that there won’t be a sandbox to play in.
