#21: Hidden Body Shaming
Looking back at Bridget Jones today, she is unquestionably of average size and shape, meaning the movie is unquestionably problematic. The only thing I can say in its defense is that Bridget Jones’ Diary didn’t invent the wheel; it was a product of an entire industry designed to make women feel fat. It’s a shame, because she was a great character.
