Bearded Queens and Crossdressers
Most of the drag queens you’ve seen were probably smooth-shaven, so it can be a bit jarring to see a queen with a beard. Typically, we don’t think of beards as part of a feminine ensemble, but both bearded women and their queen counterparts prove otherwise. Sure, they don’t fit in a box, but is that really where these fabulous femmes belong?
Conchita Wurst (pictured above, far right) became one of the most famous drag queens in history after winning the 2014 Eurovision, where the bearded beauty stunned riveted audiences around the world. She confessed to Austrian media that her eye-catching beard is “not 100 percent real. I have found a trick to make it look particularly good – I use eye shadow and a thick brush to make it stand out.”
