An (SS1) student of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Jalingo was on Monday apprehended for being in possession of two grenades. It took the alertness of the security guards to detect the explosives on the student’s luggage.
The student, simply identified as Blessing, who joined the school last September, attempted to smuggle the bombs into the school, concealed inside gari.
Upon the discovery, she was quickly arrested alongside her father, who is said to be a retired Police Inspector from Numan in Adamawa State, while the bomb disposal unit at the police headquarters was quickly called in to detonate the bombs.
Upon hearing of the development, the entire school were thrown into pandemonium as staff and students ran for cover and it took great effort from the school authorities to restore normalcy to the school.
Confirming the incident, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, said both the girl and her father were being detained, while investigation is ongoing on the matter
