Nigeria will generate 5,000MW from coal —Nebo

The Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, says the recent development in the use of coal technology could help the Nation to generate additional five thousand megawatts of power.

He stated this while receiving his counterpart from Ghana in Abuja.

Professor Nebo said with Nigeria’s endowment as owning the seventh largest coal deposit in the World, it should join other developed countries that generate power from coal.

The Minister however stressed the need for further cooperation with the visiting Ghanaian team in meeting energy needs of the two countries through the reinvigorate of the West African power pool.

Earlier, the Ghanaian Minister of Power, Mr. Kwebena Donkor, said his country was ready to cooperate with Nigeria to build a robust energy mix for socioeconomic development.
