
The Super Bowl is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most important sporting events in the American calendar, but even if you’re the keenest of fans, you still might not know all there is to know about its history. As we get excited for Super Bowl LIX, you might as well brush up on some of the more surprising facts about the Big Game.
#1: The First Super Bowl wasn’t called “Super Bowl”
It takes time to think of a catchy name, and you have to be sure that you’re brand has potential before wasting the creativity. The first Super Bowl in 1967 was named the “AFL-NFL World Championship Game.” I’m not sure where the world comes into it, but other than that, it definitely provided an accurate description, even if it wasn’t so catchy.
