Fossilized remnants

Believe it or not, finding fossilized remains of extinct animals and plants isn’t all that difficult. Sure, you may need to do some digging or cracking, but there are several signs of past flora and fauna residing right below our feet. You might not find them every day, but they’re common enough that the media won’t come clamoring when you make a discovery.

For instance, when this person uploaded a picture of what appears to be the exoskeleton of a long-gone beast, experts were quick to point out that it was in fact a fossilized piece of a horsetail calamites. This is an extinct tree species that grew up to 50 meters tall.
