48. Teeth-brushing habits
Most of us wash our teeth twice a day – after getting out of bed in the morning, and before going into bed at night – and this is the recommended amount. However, when we want to feel extra fresh, or after a smelly lunch, some of us feel the need to brush our teeth in between meals, three or even four times throughout the day.
According to professionals, brushing your teeth at the end of a meal isn’t advised. Brushing your teeth immediately after eating might actually have the opposite effect and harm your teeth. Particularly foods and drinks that are high in carbohydrates, sugars or acids, stay in our mouths for at least twenty minutes after eating, and so brushing might harm the enamel on our teeth.
