McDonald’s has been around since 1940, so of course, the fast food giant has introduced many items over its long history. But when McDonald’s gives, it also takes. While many introduced items have been permanent stays, many have been removed from its menu over the years. Sometimes, it’s because the item was a flop. But other items make you scratch your head as to why they got rid of it. Then there are those cult items that have a fan base demanding the item return. So, we’re going to look at 20 items and answer the question, “Should these come back?”
#1: Happy Meal Cookies
If you were a kid between the late ‘70s and the early 2000s, you remember these cookies. After eating some nuggets and fries, those lemony shortbread cookies shaped like your favorite McDonald’s characters made this meal truly happy.
They were removed from the menu around 2004. This was a time when people were conscious about what their children were eating. This was also the year of Super Size Me, a movie that changed McDonald’s as we know it. Removing the shortbread cookies was an example of over-correction, though. These cookies were five small shortbread cookies. It wasn’t like the kid was eating a giant Crumbl cookie! Not to mention, your kid is still eating fried foods.
