How big are your lungs?
This might not be a comparison photo, but it definitely gives you some perspective. Can you guess which animal these lungs belong to? Our first guess would’ve been whale lungs, but these are, in fact, horse lungs. While these lungs are inflated, and the size of their lungs at a state of rest is smaller, it’s still pretty unbelievable.
Human lungs and horse lungs share many similar characteristics, but the capacity of horse lungs is significantly larger. Horses have a 55-liter lung capacity, while humans have a 6-liter lung capacity, to put you in perspective. Being a veterinarian and learning all those things must be fascinating!
