The Rise and Fall of TikTok’s Biggest Stars

January 26, 2023 by Elizabeth Grillo

TikTok is a platform that while fairly new has taken the whole world by storm. It has millions of daily users and many more overall users and accounts, and influencers on the platform can make an entire living and more from being a creator depending on their business plan and if they use the popularity there to diversify their income streams as well by expanding past the app. But, with any social media comes some interesting aspects. Let’s talk a bit about all of the ins and outs of this concept and the rise and fall of many of TikTok’s biggest stars.

How TikTok Stardom Works

Becoming a TikTok star is fairly simple, you gain views on your videos which leads to more followers and gives you more interaction. From higher followers you have more features like professional tools, live streaming capabilities, and more. TikTok stars can then market sponsorships, make their own products for sale, and much more to gain more fame and money.

Big TikTok Stars

There are a handful of common stars on this platform that have become known names. You typically think of individuals like the D’Amelio’s or Bella Poarch when considering big TikTok stars. And even these folk have had their share of ups and downs throughout time. More stars are often emerging, and it shifts often since TikTok is algorithm based and hard to figure out.

Average Age Range

TikTok has a much younger age demographic than many other social media platforms, and TikTok stars are often in their teenage years or young adulthood. There are exceptions to this but often the younger audience on the app leads to younger folk getting famous easily since they can understand those mentalities to an extent.

Why Shifts Occur

The biggest reasons that stars on TikTok have huge shifts in their popularity often are things outside the app, just pure luck, or drama and issues coming to light. Many huge issues from big stars have caused them to lose much of their fame including controversies, drama, and more. And the bigger stars often get or keep their fame by having more business outside the app.

Income From Fame

Most of the TikTok stars are able to earn income from their fame if they’re thinking properly and learning about it. Aside from the income they can specifically earn from TikTok for views and interaction via the creator fund, they can also sell merchandise or products of their own, have sponsorships and deals with companies, and move towards other revenue sources too.

Fame is a finicky way to get money since it can often really heavily change depending on effort put in, audience, type of fame, and the overall success of the platforms fame is gained from. That’s why many of your favorite celebrities and known household names have multiple forms of income and fame. So, TikTok stars often shift and find high or low points in their careers on shorter frames of time as well as new stars being added to the platform or gaining fame. It really has a lot to do with luck, but we tried discussing as much as possible today.
