These guys used WD-40 as engine oil, and the whole car exploded

One commenter was more upset with them, writing that “WD” actually stands for “Water Displacement.” He added that it’s not meant to be used as actual engine oil; rather, it’s only supposed to be used to clean the individual parts of the engine during assembly.

It would appear that we have received another comment containing an alternative perspective, which suggests WD-40 was never originally intended to be used as engine oil.
