Underground
Other bees might choose to live in trees, but some prefer to build their nests underground or use abandoned burrows. These nests resemble anthills and can be easy to spot if you know what you’re looking for. If there is one near you – for example, in your garden – it might look unleveled and can be dangerous if you accidentally step on it.

Some types of bees build their nests in the ground, and while they’re usually not interested in stinging humans, there are always exceptions. You’re more likely to see these bees during springtime when they’re looking for mates and building nests.
