Showgirls
In the late 1800s, Paris, France had showgirls; however, it was not until the early 1950s that the Las Vegas showgirl appeared. Casinos in Las Vegas attempted to compete with each other by upping the ante and adding acts of dancing women in revealing costumes and enormous feathered hats to their performances as a means of distinguishing themselves from the competition.

It was just another day at the job for these Las Vegas showgirls, who were getting dressed and putting on makeup before heading out onstage.
