George Hicks’ Home: Hick’s Court, St Ives, England – 1888 vs. 2021
Isn’t it amazing what a little color and a change of scene can do to an image? It isn’t easy to imagine being there or comprehending the colors that should be there when you look at an old picture from a time long before your time. However, if you combine it with a color snap, everything comes to life!

This location, which is now known as Hick’s Court, was home to the Victorian-era artist and society portraitist George Hick (1611-1624) in the 18th century. There is also a marker beside the archway, claiming that this was his residence. It’s beautiful to think that such a piece of history has survived into the 21st century!
