When we look back at the 1980s, there’s a lot to think about—much of it in high visibility color. We may think of “Video Killed the Radio Star” and the launch of MTV. We may think of the films that are still fan favorites to this day like Back to the Future and Top Gun. But what about all of those TV shows that kept us entertained? The 80s was an incredible time for TV, particularly sitcoms and law enforcement shows. There was far more on TV than just Cheers or The Golden Girls. Plenty of other shows debuted during this decade, many of which we don’t talk about nearly enough. So, let’s talk about them now.
#1: Small Wonder (1985-1989)
Any fans of the 2022 horror film M3GAN may remember the show Small Wonder. That’s because M3GAN was undoubtedly inspired by that ’80s sci-fi sitcom. For four seasons, we watched as the Lawson family assimilated a robot child named Vicki into their family. It was beloved by audiences and not critics, but is still widely considered a cult classic TV series.
