#21: Frankly, My Dear
Okay, who did this?! Someone took a screen still from an iconic scene in Gone with the Wind and added their own subtitle. This image is from the famous scene where Clark Gable tells Vivien Leigh, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” It’s one of the most famous mic drops in movie history, and the line is pretty famous even though the movie was released back in 1940.
This person cleverly decided to update it for a modern audience by changing the line to, “tbh bae idgaf.” This is such an interesting twist on the line, because it pretty much means the same thing but it looks like a completely different language from English. If you’re not familiar, the line translates to “to be honest bae, I don’t give a —“. It’s wild how a few decades can so drastically change how we communicate with each other.
