Beginning in 1968 and throughout the 70s and 80s, cars came with a dashboard car radio with a built-in cassette tape player. It was a bulky, radio-like box that displayed AM/FM channels, and that’s pretty much it. It wasn’t quite as sophisticated as car audio systems nowadays.

Today, people no longer use cassette tapes or laser discs. Heck, some people don’t even listen to the radio anymore. They just connect their phones to the car audio system through Bluetooth and listen to their custom-made playlists on Spotify.
