
Today’s parents aren’t just helicopter parents; they have the whole Air Force. From watching their kids through tracking apps to literally putting their kids on a leash, I think we have overcorrected how wild the ’80s were for us kids. I’m all for keeping kids safe, but you also have to let a kid be a kid and run wild sometimes. We’re here today to look at 24 things we ’80s kids did that would shock today’s parents and answer the question, “Should we bring it back?”
#1: Ride in Cars Without Seat Belts
Back in the ‘80s, a seat belt was optional. There was no alarm to scream at us if we didn’t buckle up. Sometimes, my parents drove with a whole bunch of us in the trunk! Usually, with secondhand smoke wafting through the air. Back then, those cars were metal death traps if you crashed. I think it’s for the best that we stopped this.
