A&W is a classic American restaurant with a classic American dream story. Roy W. Allen began the business as a root beer stand, and it soon grew into a booming franchise. It’s still around, with over 900 locations worldwide.

However, most of those locations are standard fast-food restaurants. They phased out their drive-ins in most locations a long time ago, but there are still drive-in locations. For example, there’s a seasonal one in Middlebury, Vermont, that should open for the season in May. Road trip, anyone?
