#22: Connect Four

Finally, we have the classic game Connect Four, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024. You play as either the red or yellow-colored pieces, and you drop a piece into a grid. Whoever is the first to get four colored pieces in the same row wins.

It’s simple, yet there’s quite a bit of strategy to it. A player would seem like they were putting pieces in random places, and then before you knew it, they connected four diagonally. What kind of wizardry was that? Even if you got upset when you lost, it was always fun sliding open the latch at the bottom and watching the pieces all fall out.
