#6: If Only!
If you’re an English nerd, this will be a fun exercise for you. The sentence “She told him that she loved him” is simple enough, but it gets complicated when you add in one extra word. The person who posted this suggests adding the word “only” anywhere in the sentence. When you try it out, the results are surprising.
The meaning of that simple sentence changes drastically depending on where you place the word “only.” Putting “only” at the very beginning of the sentence means something completely different than putting it at the very end. It’s like every version of that sentence can tell a totally different story. The English language is confusing, but it’s also pretty cool.
