#8: Not So Fresh
The food industry has changed in many developed countries around the world. Instead of handmade local goods, many daily food items have become industrialized. From bread to midday snacks, even vegetables are becoming ultra-processed and less nutritionally made. In some countries, such as the U.S., this is more prominent.
Once they moved to the United States from Germany, the new residents went to Walmart to do their shopping. They were culture-shocked to see entire aisles of packaged, sliced white bread. Being used to the dense, whole-grain bread made in Germany, the residents were disappointed by the lack of options and poor bread quality. The U.S. is still coming around to support small businesses, many of which are freshly baked bread shops!
