So far, we’ve seen quite a few attorneys who appear to be rather daft. Still, we shouldn’t forget that the witnesses are capable of being just as ridiculous, too! After all, the attorney was completely right to make the witness vocalize all of his responses instead of just using his body language.
According to Albert Mehrabian, one of the first researchers of body language, only 7% of our communication uses words. In comparison, 38% of communication is vocal, but not words, and the majority is non-verbal at 55%. So, it makes sense that the attorney requested the witness to speak instead of nodding or shaking his head.
