Pictures from Classic McDonald’s Restaurants from the 80s and 90s

Take a seat next to Uncle Ronald

Every McDonald’s restaurant had a bench with a Ronald McDonald statue sitting on it. One of his arms would extend sideways toward our backs, which made it creepier than what the designers probably imagined. But it was one of those decorations that children looked forward to the most. Pulling up near one of them meant we were stopping for a tasty, albeit fattening, treat.

Many of these Ronald statues were removed long before the clown sightings in 2016. Even though we weren’t fans of the statues, it was pretty hard seeing them go one by one. They were a huge part of our childhood, but if we’re being completely honest, we’re happy that they won’t traumatize our kids.
