This year has been tumultuous, to say the least for many individuals and companies, and Hollywood took a big hit during it. However, some movies have continued to roll out or begun to come out in the later stages of the year and there have been a handful of successes.
Movie theatres are beginning to be able to re-open their doors to the public, with currently rolling films as well as some older classics on the schedule. But what has come around in 2020’s movies so far that really seems good?
Well, here are the top 5 best movies of 2020 thus far.
Hamilton
The filmed production of this classic musical was a major hit. It brings a new perspective to many aspects of Hamilton with the classic feel and message behind a great deal of it, and many people already suspect this movie will become a staple for education models in the future too. Hamilton was circulated by Disney and exists on their premium subscription service called Disney+, where you can pay a monthly fee to watch this and many other great films and shows.
The Invisible Man
Released in early 2020, The Invisible Man saw a great deal of success and fame before the movie theatre shut down and following the shutting down of film sets. This film is a captivating thriller/horror story that has a play on gaslighting and abuse in an eerie light. You can see this on many streaming services or purchase the movie. Thousands were drawn in by the suspense and fear that was marvelously conveyed through the leading role and storyline.
Mulan
Another Disney remake made its way out and into fans’ hearts fairly recently in 2020, the live-action remake of Mulan. While the movie didn’t include some key elements from the animated version, many people considered it a great adaptation and it’s been bringing Disney a lot of profit. This is also available through Disney+. With stunning visual production, viewers overall enjoyed the new try at the classic tale from Disney’s earlier days.
Bad Boys For Life
Bad Boys For Life received heaps of attention from fans as another addition to the Bad Boys series. Filled with action, intensity, good acting, and a strong storyline; the film certainly makes a stand against other projects of the year. This film made a mark on the industry when it was released at the very beginning of 2020 and earned over $400 million at the box office during its time in theaters.
Birds Of Prey
A massive success (again) for Marvel’s production, Birds Of Prey came out in early 2020 and took the box office by storm. The film follows the main character and comic book idea Harley Quinn in an interesting turn of events from the usual storyline that she follows. It was empowering with a women-led main chain of events and many Marvel fans, as well as newbies, ate this film up quickly when it was in theaters.
Hopefully, with movie theatres re-opening again and the ability to get back into some filming environments, movie productions will be able to get underway yet again. Some films that were originally planned for this year have been tentatively moved to early and mid-2021 months; which gives some of us something to look forward to.
But since plenty of us most likely haven’t noticed the films that have come out, this list gives you some information on the top movies that have been able to come out in 2020. And we still have some months left to hope for more.
