The squishy spot
Ah, babies. Fresh out of the womb, they look more like potatoes than they do humans. It isn’t until they’re around a year old that their human features become more apparent and permanent. However, you might have noticed that they have a soft spot on the top of their heads. Under no circumstances should you apply pressure to any of these spots!
These soft spots exist because their skull bones haven’t fully fused together. These soft spots will disappear over time as their bones join together, which can be anywhere from six months to two years. Until then, make sure they don’t go bumping their heads against hard objects, which is basically 99% of what parenting is.
