Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell
Get Smart was the first film in which we saw Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway appear on screen together. The film was a comedic spy comedy. In spite of the fact that both of them were already well-established stars in Hollywood prior to the film, they were a great team for the comedy.
Even though they were both big stars in Hollywood, this was the situation. A narrative that could have been quite interesting about spies who turn out to be lovers is let down by the fact that Carell is twenty years older than Hathaway. This is a poor part of a story that is otherwise interesting.
