More often than not, TV show spin-offs can be a hit-and-miss. In the best cases, they keep the momentum of the original show going, giving more detail and new insights into all your favorite characters. In the worst cases, they’re a huge disappointment. There are some exceptions to this rule, though. We have compiled a list of spin-offs that are so good that they even managed to overtake their original series. Some of these shows became so popular that you might not even know they began as spin-off series.
#1: Frasier (1993–2004)
Frasier was completely a smash hit, making an impact on audiences around the world. After Cheers (1982–1993) finished, Frasier picked up in 1993, following Dr. Frasier Crane as he moved back to Seattle post-divorce. As it received back-to-back success, Kelsey Grammer played Frasier for over 20 years across both shows Cheers and Frasier. Talk about dedication to a character!
