Weddings are a big deal for many couples, especially when the couples are under heavy public attention at all times like celebs are. However, most weddings are planned out in the future even as far as years away. This means that when the current pandemic hit, weddings that were planned for 2020 and early 2021 during government mandated shut downs, social distancing, and more were either altered or completely moved. Many celebs had weddings planned in 2020 that are changed to this year, and others already had it planned for this year too. If you want to know who, here’s some of the celebrity weddings planned for 2021.
Kat Luna and Alex Garrido
Kat and Alex, best known from American Idol, tied the knot in January of 2021 which was revealed by People magazine. Their wedding was in Tennessee and the couple had a small guest list (which they already wanted to have) as well as other precautions to keep everyone safe while celebrating, which the couple said was of top priority for them. January 15 was a special day for this couple and meant the beginning of their married life together, despite pandemic struggles.
Alexander Ludwig and Lauren Dear
Alexander Ludwig from the show Vikings, and many other acting gigs, revealed him and his fiancée eloped on a mountain in Utah with their dog as a witness. This happened only a month after the two were engaged, and Ludwig went on to explain that it was more important to them to be able to be husband and wife since “life is short” and that they plan to have a celebration once pandemic restrictions are calmer.
Kirby Bumpus and Virgil Miller
Gayle King’s daughter Kirby was able to get married to Virgil Miller in December of 2020 after being engaged since early 2019, but the news was shared by Gayle early this year. The couple only was able to have a venue for their event from the kindness of Kirby’s godmother Oprah Winfrey when she allowed the wedding ceremony to be held at her home in Santa Barbara while also following restrictions of the pandemic.
Other Plans
Many other celebrities were able to become engaged during the pandemic or had wedding plans for 2020 that had to be shifted, but most are taking it well and planning to make the most out of what has to change. Some couples like Jojo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers are pleased to have extra time to better plan their ideal event, and others tried to see the bright side. Sarah Hyland and her fiancé decided to take photos on their original date that had to be changed.
There could be more weddings to occur during 2021 that aren’t on this list for many reasons, and of course some celebs still choose to just have a quiet elopement or small family style wedding too which means they may fly under the radar some. But these are some of the main celebrations of partnership you can expect from your favorite celebrities in this year. The changes and restrictions during this pandemic have made celebrating weddings so much more difficult for couples of all wealth statuses, but celebs are also able to afford more than most of us so don’t feel too bad if your own wedding plans or families’ plans have been stopped from it all.
