Famous Legacy Of Ben Stiller
This one made me roll my eyes so vigorously that I may have strained something in my face or neck. This is a classic example of one person saying something nuanced, another person simplifying it (and making it controversial, because you have to get clicks some way), and then a large number of people accepting the simplified version as fact.
You should read the actual Twitter conversation that Stiller had with someone about favoritism in the workplace. You will discover that he did not utter any of the statements for which he is being blamed. He admitted that nepotism is practiced in the entertainment industry, but he simply stated that it is not reasonable to assume that people who have famous parents have never put in any effort to get where they are, nor is it reasonable to assume that people who have famous parents, but lack talent won’t succeed in the industry just because they have famous parents. Both of these propositions, in my opinion, are defensible.
