Celebs Who Started Their Adult Life In The Military

June 25, 2020 by Elizabeth Grillo

Mickey Rooney

Our love for Mickey Rooney is due to his adorable and amusing face expressions, both on and off the screen. In addition to his acting career, Rooney, the last surviving silent film actor, made a name for himself as a radio host, comedian, producer, and vaudevillian. Over the course of his lengthy and distinguished career, he appeared in over 300 films.

At the time of his death, he was one of the highest-paid actors in the entertainment industry. When he was called up to serve in World War II in 1944, he was tasked with entertaining the troops on stage and via radio. He received the Bronze Star, the World War II Victory Medal, and a medal for good conduct for his service in Europe during the war as a reward for his efforts.
