A Yemeni official has said that American drone strike has killed nine suspected Al-Qaida militants. The US has been searching for her citizens taken hostage by Al-Qaida.
The official who spoke anonymously said the strikes targeted Al-Qaida hideouts in Southern province of Shabwa.
At least six suspected militants were killed in an airstrike in the same province last month.
The U.S. considers Yemen’s al-Qaida branch to be the world’s most dangerous as it has been linked to several failed attacks on the U.S. homeland.
Therefore, subsequent drone strikes has been taken by the US as a measure to eliminate Yemen Al-Qaida strategies.
This strike come amid a search for American photojournalist Luke Somers, held by al-Qaida militants following his abduction in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, in September 2013.
