Queen Elizabeth is now the world’s oldest monarch after the death of Saudi Arabia king Abdullah at the age of 90.
Queen Elizabeth 11: 88 years, 277 days.
King Abdul Halim Kedah of Malaysia: 87 years, 56 days.
King Rama IX of Thailand: 87 years, 49 days.
King Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait: 85 years, 221 days’
King Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Ajman of United Arab Emirates: 84 years, 22 day.
The king who died on Friday at 1:00 am local time has since been replaced by his Half brother Salman as the new ruler. The body of King Abdullah has been buried in an unmarked grave in Riyadh less than 24 hours after his death plunged Saudi Arabia into mourning.
Family, friends and dignitaries from the Arab world crowded around the grave to pay their final respects following the monarch’s funeral this afternoon.
