Getting wet!
One of the most iconic parts of seeing Niagara Falls is climbing aboard the Maid of the Mist and circling around the basin. Upon boarding, the crew members will hand over thin, dark blue ponchos to keep your clothes relatively dry. Meanwhile, your face and hands will experience the cooling mist from the falls.
The spray won’t knock you back, but it can come at such force and at unpredictable times. Make sure your belongings are safe within the poncho’s cover, otherwise your smartphone may not survive the 30-ish-minute trip. As you can see, you might even see the end of a rainbow while traveling across the basin!
