You might think that engineers wouldn’t have to plug up the river for at least another 1,000 years or so, but this might not be the case. The National Frontier State Park Commission proposed another stoppage of the American Falls once again. This time, the plan is to carry out repairs on the bridge that connects Goat Island and mainland NY.
However, in 2018, the project was no closer to being realized than it was during the planning phase. A lack of funds stopped organizers from taking a step closer to their goal. A year later, the plans were put on hold yet again. Hopefully, they’ll drain the falls during our lifetime. We have our fingers crossed!
