Sharing the falls
There were several complications that made draining and fortifying the falls. One of which was the fact that Niagara Falls borders the US and its northern neighbor. Even though American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are parts of the US, Horseshoe Falls belongs to Ontario, Canada.
This wouldn’t have been a problem had the river from American Falls rerouted itself to Bridal Veil, but this wasn’t the case. Instead, the thousands of tons of gushing water every second went to Horseshoe, and nobody could predict what this would do to the falls and its natural rock formation beneath the flowing water. Thankfully, nothing harmful came about, and everything was restored back to normal at the end of the day.
