No more tourism?
For the locals whose livelihoods depended on American Falls, they thought business would dry up, at least for the time being. After all, who would travel to the site just to take a glimpse at the empty falls? Luckily for them, this wasn’t the case at all!
Although the tourism industry at Niagara Falls took a hit in the summer of 1969, an empty waterfall was exactly what people wanted to see. It wasn’t every day that you could see a dry waterfall! In fact, that might have been the only time people could ever witness the bare-bone landscape of a previously flowing river and fall.
