Facebook has come under heavy criticism for rolling out their safety check app for Paris attack when they had not done so after the similar attack in Beirut and Baghdad and even Nigeria. More than four million people used the Facebook Safety Check tool to tell their friends they were OK, and over 360 million people got notifications that their friends were safe, according to the information made available by Facebook.
Facebook said 78 million people had 183 million interactions relating to the attacks on the social network platform.
Six different locations where attacked in Paris by the Islamist extremism killing well over 129 people and wounding another 350 with 90 said to be critical. The worst hit location is the Bataclan the venue for the Eagle Death Rock concert where more than 89 people were killed in a coordinated gun and grenade attack.
This is the first time the Facebook Safety Check App will be deployed outside natural disasters.
